Don,

You should check out WSPR.  It's based on JT65 IIRC.  You can run your own 
"beacon" station.  You configure it to transmit, say, once every 5 minutes.  
The receiver portion of the program will upload all stations it hears to 
WSPRNET.  You can then log into WSPRNET and see all the stations that heard you 
over a period of time!

It's a way cool way of checking out propagation!

Well, I have to admit it was AA5AU. I downloaded JT65-HF Friday evening and 
have enjoyed "getting my feet wet" on JT65. Today at 1819Z I worked VU2LBW on 
15 meter JT65A and he was running 5 watts and he's still coming in! I am 
impressed.

Another cool thing I see with this mode is you can leave the program running 
like I did last night on 20 meters when I went to bed and this morning I was 
able to see all the DX stations that were on during the night and where the 
band was open.

Other than RTTY, I've not been a fan of any of the other digital modes, but 
this one I really like.
