I think that is mostly a thing of the past. I know that N1MM Logger does
not look for DE. I never send DE and I don't seem to have any problem
making contacts.
Skimmers look for CQ or TEST and a CALL
CQ TEST W6SX W6SX CQ will light up the Skimmers. DE is not required.
