Shelby, I support what you say completely. This subject of delayed response
has come up before and I have seen all the arguments from multi-radio
stations. I don't have a problem with SO2R/SO3R operation and have run 2
radios here, but the fact is that SO2R is only wonderful if everything runs
perfectly. HF radio is not perfect and unexpected delays occur. I had maybe
10 instances in the RU when a significant amount of time was wasted waiting
for a response, when signals were very strong and copy perfect. It was
obvious that another QSO was being finished before I got my reply. This
happened both when CQing and answering a CQ. That screws up my rate and
rhythm when running because another contester expects me to wait for them.
I don't see any answer to the problem and certainly don't wish to restrict
multi-radio stations in any way. Those ops have my admiration ... it's just
inevitable that their techniques cause frustration to others at times.
Personally, unless it is a "new", for me, DX station, I seldom turn my
station on, during the week. That is my "choice", and for those that enjoy
operating any/all other modes, but not contesting, it is also your
"choice" to operate during a major contest weekend.
Much the same here. Watch the spots and DX bulls in the week, work a few
contests. Try to chat on RTTY if I see someone I know will talk!

IMHO, regardless of how many radios are on your desk, when you are
operating S/P, it is your responsibility to be as efficient as possible to
the CQing station? After all, it was "your" choice to call! And speaking
of "tiresome', very little infuriates me more, during a contest, as having
to wait on a "multiple radio" user to complete a contact on another band,
before returning to me. If I am CQing, and you answer me, you should be
ready, immediately, to send the exchange, in an equally efficient format
that you received it. If you are CQing, and I call you, I immediately
return my exchange. I realize that there are other reasons for the delay,
so please don't remind me of them. This is a competition, with incentives
to win, regardless of their value. When you value your time, more than you
value my time, you're being inconsiderate?
