I stand red faced and corrected. I had never used the monitor function for cw 
or rtty. When I engaged the monitor function and adjusted the pot, I'll be 
darned if it didn't work as advertised. Enjoy the laugh at my expense, I 
deserve it.

Yes but the monitor level function only works for voice mode, it has no effect 
on cw or rtty sidetone levels. Until I discovered that there is indeed a 
sidetone level adjustment for cw, I assumed that the levels were fixed. I 
haven't yet played with the level adjustment for cw as it will entail a bit of 
work just to gain access to the trimmer pot, hence the original question.There 
is something to be said for the ability to readily access the back side of 
one's radios. I wish the room were bigger to allow walk around access to the 
rear of the desk.
