Rex has given me permission to forward this email to the RTTY reflector for
anyone interested. He is currently restoring a Creed 444 teleprinter. He has
started a Yahoo group for those interested in mechanical RTTY.

All
This week I completed constructions of a double current magnet driver for the
Creed 444 so I wired up the machine and got it working in local mode. The
reperforator wasn't working (The punch withdrawing bracket was not engaged). A
little TLC and lubrication and the punch now works so I can make punch tapes
RYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYR :)

I have to say that having lubricated everything the machine is really working
well!

I fitted a high brightness led and 4.7k resistor in place of the end of line
neon. That works off the +12V on the tongue without disturbing local copy.

The next (and hopefully last) teleprinter issue I encountered was a broken
pecker lever in the tape reader so now I can make tapes but not read them
properly. So thats one last thing for me to fix (either obtain or make a
replacement part)

All said and done this has been a challenging but enjoyable project.

I have started a yahoo Group for those interested in mechanical RTTY, it seemed
like an idea to post information and ideas on the subject as there may be
others around the world interested in doing this.

If you're interested in mechanical RTTY and the machines you can see the posts
and pictures etc here https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Real_RTTY/info

Not so much there at the moment but I'm sure more photos and information can be
collected as we go.

VY 73 and happy new Year to all
