The REF contest takes place from 0600 UTC Saturday 27th
to 1759 UTC Sunday 28th January. It's a CW-only event on
the 5 contest bands from 80 - 10m. There are single and
all-band options for HP, LP (100w) and QRP (5W).
Rules (in French) at
http://concours.ref-union.org/reglements/actuels/reg_cdfhf_fr_0610.pdf
SD supports SO entries in this event. V13.13 runs on any
Windows PC, and is free from www.ei5di.com/sd/sdsetup.exe.
Select SD's "REF, DX" template (outside France) and
"REF, F" template (French side)
French stations send 5NN + département number or country
prefix (Overseas Territories). Others send 5NN + Serial,
and work "French" stations only - with multipliers for
départements and certain country prefixes.
French stations include Mainland France, Corsica, and French
Overseas Territories.
NOTE for entrants outside France. Scoring is by continent,
but SD does not know what continent you're in, unless your
prefix and country are added to the REFDX file. Please copy
your own country record from DXCC.CTY into REFDX.CTY. You
must do this before the contest for SD to score correctly.
It's easy to identify which stations you can work for points.
If SD displays the country name and beam heading, after
you've entered two or more callsign characters, then it's OK
to call. You can log other stations, but they will not score.
After the Contest, use SDCHECK to create your Cabrillo .LOG
file. Edit it with Notepad to add the Cabrillo header tag
"REF-SECTION: DX". French stations give their département
instead of "DX". Rename your file to YOURCALL.LOG and email
it, as an attached file, to cdfcw@ref-union.org.

Paul EI5DI
