The REF contest takes place from 0600 UTC Saturday 26th to
1759 UTC Sunday 27th January. It is CW-only on the 5 contest
bands from 80 - 10m. There are single and all-band options
for HP, LP (100w) and QRP (5W).
Rules (in French) at
http://concours.ref-union.org/reglements/actuels/reg_cdfhf_fr_0610.pdf
SD supports SO entries. V13.35 runs on any Windows PC, and
is free from www.ei5di.com.
Select the "REF, DX" template (outside France) - or
"REF, France" template (French side)
French stations send 5NN + département number or country
prefix (Overseas Territories). Others send 5NN + Serial,
and work "French" stations only - with multipliers for
départements and certain country prefixes.
French stations include Mainland France, Corsica, and French
Overseas Territories.
NOTE for entrants outside France. Scoring is by continent,
but SD does not know what continent you're in, unless your
prefix and country are added to the REFDX file. You must
copy your own country record in DXCC.CTY and add it to
REFDX.CTY (use NotePad), before the contest, for SD to
score correctly.
If you're not sure which countries, apart from France, you
can work - look for SD to show a beam heading (under the
logging line) after you've entered two or more callsign
characters. Once you see a heading, it means SD has
identified it as a "French" country. You can log other
stations, but they will not score.
After the Contest, use SDCHECK to create your Cabrillo .LOG
file. Rename your file to YOURCALL.LOG and email it, as an
attached file, to cdfcw@ref-union.org.
Please mention SD in your soapbox comments.
73,
Paul EI5DI
