I eventually found the .exe icon labelled 'SDCHECK' rather than 'SDC CHECK'  
and it had somehow lodged itself right at the bottom of the scroll travel with 
a  large empty space between it and the rest of the program files icons. It 
works  with my test log so I guess I can now sleep easy after all!
