For information - SD uses no hidden files. However,
depending on Windows preferences for individual PCs,
some common file name extensions may not be visible.
but I have now ascertained that the WPX log checking ignores both

Again, for information, this applies to all contests
that have accepted Cabrillo logs since 1999 or so.
so I have been able to submit the log without the tedium of amending
some 1850 points entries in the Cabrillo with a text editor.
There are NO points entries in any Cabrillo log - so
there is nothing to be edited even if a logger scored
every QSO incorrectly. The ONLY thing affected by
"wrong" scores is the Claimed Score.
If anyone ever needs to edit callsigns (the callsign
sent) in Cabrillo logs, they can all be changed with
a single operation using NotePad - a standard accessory
program on every Windows PC. Use the multiple Find and
Replace function. It's worth experimenting with this
to see how it works - it's far better than editing
individual lines.
