I don't think it is possible to save files from SD in a folder other than
the folder that contains SD.EXE however it is easy to achieve the same
result, by copying the critical files to a separate folder after each
contest.

Here is an example of what I do: let's say I enter the XYZ contest and I
name the contest file "XYZTEST". I use SDCHECK immediately after the
contest to generate XYZTEST.ADI and XYZTEST.LOG (the ADIF and Cabrillo
files) then I copy these files, along with XYZTEST.ALL and SD.INI to a
folder named "2015-XYZ". So, when I want to enter the next "XYZ" contest,
I simply copy the SD.INI file from the 2015-XYZ directory back to the
SD.EXE folder - in that way, all the settings for the XYZ contest are
restored.

It may sound complicated, but in practice it is very simple!
