Dear Sirs... By the request of LABRE Confederation, I have the pleasure to
send you the updated rules for the WWSA CW Contest:

2001 WORLD-WIDE SOUTH AMERICA CW CONTEST - WWSA
             Updated rules

       Formerly sponsored by Antenna-Eletronica Popular magazine and now by
Confederacao Brasileira de Radioamadorismo (LABRE Confederation), with the
cooperation of Argentine CW Group (GACW), the well known WWSA Contest will
run under the following rules:

1. Contest period: First full weekend of June (for 2001, June 2-3).
    Starts: 0000h UTC Saturday. Ends: 1600h UTC Sunday.
    It's a 40-hour competition.
2. Mode: CW (A1A) only.
3. Bands: 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters. Cross-band contacts are not valid.
4. Call and exchange: Call: CQ SA test. Exchange: RST+Continent
    (two letters: AF, AS, EU, NA, OC, SA). Example: 599EU).
5. Categories:  I. Single operator/Single band (SOSB).
                II. Single operator/Multiband (SOMB).
               III. Multi-Operator/Single Transmitter/Multi-Band (MOMB).
6. Points
    a) South America contestants - QSO with station from:
         own country................................  1 point.
         other South American country...............  3 points.
         other continent............................ 10 points.
    b) Other contestants - QSO with station from:
         own country................................  1 point.
         other country in own continent.............  3 points.
         other continent, except South America......  5 points.
         South America.............................. 10 points.
7. Multipliers: Different prefixes worked by band, according to WPX
    contest rules.
8. Scoring: The final score is the result of the total QSO points from
    all worked bands multiplied by the sum of multipliers from all those
    bands.
9. Log instructions
a) make a Summary Sheet listing:
    I   - Name and year of the contest.
    II  - Call sign used.
    III - Operator's call sign, if different from the call sign used.
    IV  - Category of competition.
    V   - Total of QSOs, points and multipliers by band.
    VI  - Claimed final score.
    VII - Equipment and antennas used (optional).
    VIII- Output power in watts (optional).
    IX  - Comments and suggestions (optional).
    X   - Signed declaration that all contest rules and regulations for
          amateur radio in the country of  the contestant have been fully
          observed. Also, the declaration must state that the participant
          recognizes the actions and decisions of the Contest Committee
          as official and final.
    XI  - For MOMB category, list of all operators and their signatures.
    XII - Contestant's name and full mailing address, including country,
          continent and, if it exists, e-mail address;
b) use a separate log for each band, which must have: band, date,
    time UTC, worked station, exchange (sent and received), multiplier
    prefixes (only in the first occurrence of each one, by band) and
    points of the QSO;
c) besides the printed option, logs may also be sent via e-mail or in
    a 3,25" diskette. In both cases, only ASCII/TXT files may be accepted;
d) Deadline: July 31st, in all cases. Logs sent after that date or which
    did not follow the contest rules will be considered just as check logs;
e) Summary sheet and logs should be sent to:

10. Awards: Certificates will be granted to the three top scoring
     stations in each category, in every participating continent.
11. Final notes: All scores will be published by ham magazines and
     by Internet. Contest Committee members and LABRE's official
     station may participate in the contest, but their logs will be
     considered just as "check logs". Any other information may be
     obtained from the Contest Committee through the addresses
     listed under Section 9.
