Hello to all in Georgia. Just wanted to let the groups know that as of
now, myself, NY4N, and Becky, AF4QB, will be coming down and operating in the
Georgia QSO Party as a Rover. We both were approved for vacation days next
weekend.
I think this year, Becky wants to play, so all listen up for the female,
southern belle voice on phone, and her fist ain't too bad either. Last year,
I operated only as a CW Rover, but I think she wants to use both modes this
year, to give out more multipliers.
Our planned route is as follows: We will start the contest in the
Northwest corner of the State in Dade County. Will head East then catch I-75
south toward Atlanta. We will skirt the northern section of Atlanta to I-85,
working it north to the South Carolina border. We hope to end the first day
around Athens.
On the second day, we hope to travel south from Athens to I-20, taking it
west toward Atlanta. At Atlanta, we want to go south on I-75 a bit, then work
our way northwest, and finishing up the contest with the counties that border
Alabama, hopefully ending up near where we started.
Our plans are to activate around 40 counties both days. This may be
tougher than we think, but we will give it our best shot.
On the air, 20 and 40 meters will most likely be our bands of choice. May
work 10 meters if it is open. 80 meters is iffy at this time, but if we can
get an antenna to work, may use it the last few hours Saturday.
I realize the idea is to activate as many counties as possible, so if
there are any other Rovers using this same route, may be able to make some
slight adjustments. So, that is the plans at this time. If there are any
changes, will post as soon as possible. Any questions or comments, feel free
to drop me a post. 73 and good luck to all. NY4N Jeff
