Guys, would like to update you a little on what Ernie and I have been
up to with his new cluster. ( grab your wallets )

Ernie's software will only support 10 connects, but the coverage area
seems to be enormous with some exceptions, mostly West GA and SW GA,
and surprisingly enough, the area around Marietta. We can relicense
the K4KG software, but it lacks too many of the options we really need
which are present in the Windows based AR-Cluster software.

So, when the SEDXC meets, Mike, K4PI along with Ernie, will make a
pitch for at least $300 from the SEDXC "cluster software fund". That
will leave up about $300 short.
As some of you know, I have been asked to clear out Bill's gear, and
his son has indicated donations aplenty for someone to get the cluster
up again. Incidentally, when we get the go ahead, we're going to be
having the damnedest "basement sale" you have ever seen, and all at
prices about 50% of what the gear is worth. There are so many 2 meter
radios and amplifiers, power supplies, you would not believe it. 3 or
4
of the amplifiers and 2 meter rigs have never been opened. So, if a
Kenwood TM-241 or 261 brand new would interest you at $100, plan to be
there.

However I digress. I really don't know what the answer will be from
the SEDXC. I know many of our members are also members there, so
please support this request.

For our part, I will match any donation from a member of the SECC up
to $200. So if you can spare $5, 10, or $20, it will really help.
Ernie has already spent over $1000 of his own money, so I really feel
the least we can do is chip in a little.

If we get the money to buy the AR software, we will relicense the AK1A
software to me at my expense, I'll set up a node here which will
connect to Ernie, and we should be able to cover our needed areas,
plus get into AL for our buddies there. I have ADSL service now, and
one of the features of the AR software is that it allows connects to
different DX nodes, but rejects dupe spots. So what we could wind up
with is 3 inputs to Ernie, and of course, we can switch Telnets for
the different contests.

So if you will help, send a check to me @

Anyone who does not contribute can expect to see his name posted
here!!!!! ):> Plus a 1.5 KW jammer on the next DX station you need.

Seriously, Bill Jay gave over 40 years of his life to ham radio and
his cluster. I think we owe him a little in return.
