SECC members...
I have been contacted by the regional fund raising coordinator for =
WRTC2002 (former WRTC competitor and SECC member K4UEE) to help raise =
the remaining funds needed for next summer's competition.=20
Since our club was honored with the opportunity to participate in the =
selection process for US competitors, and with two members on their way =
to OH-land next summer, I think it is appropriate for SECC to make some =
kind of donation.
The good news is that they are not desperate, but do need some =
additional support to make WRTC2002 a top-notch event.
Therefore, I make two suggestions -- either or both may suit the =
membership...
1. I will collect individual donations and forward them as our club's =
donation. NCDXF (Northern California DX Foundation) is the organization =
collecting funds in the US. NCDXF is a properly registered non-profit =
charitable organization, which makes donations fully tax deductible.
2. The club has (in the care of the SEDXC treasury) about $300 of "old =
money" from the Dixie DXers that was earmarked for the Georgia QSO =
Party. Since SECC members have donated far more than $300 over the past =
three GQPs for plaques, certificates, scoring and Web site work, I think =
we can declare that the $300 has already been spent on GQP, and SECC can =
use it for something else like WRTC. This would certainly increase the =
total donation made on behalf of the SECC.
SECC bylaws give the President the responsibility for dealing with money =
when a situation requires it -- which I am glad to do for WRTC2002. DX =
clubs generously support DXpeditions, a contest club can certainly =
support this competition!
Let me know what you think and/or send me your checks, made out to NCDXF =
as noted above:
73,
Your Prez
