This one was so bad I don't know where to start! Friday evening the first
hour came in with 180 qso's and everything went downhill from there. The
door slammed on 10 at 0130 with 220 qso's in the log. Left everything
running and quit for the night. Came back early Sat and the computer had a
message on the screen that it had detected some crossed links and was
shutting down to protect the computer components. PANIC!!!! This is under XP
so I rebooted and as soon as I started Writelog the same crash happened. I
spent the next several hours getting this sorted out. finally got Writelog
to run in the Safe mode but lost all rig control including DVP, boy I had
forgotten what it was like not to have the computer doing all the work. Then
the 2nd high antenna in the stack got stuck on about 60 degrees. When I
finally got going again Sat morning NO Euro's ... finally worked an IT9 for
my only Euro contact and managed one Ja qso Sat evening. Sunday morning was
just as bad. But right at 1700 three LZ1's, two Z3's, one IZ8 and one TA
call in. This lasts for five minutes and then gone. About 1900 two OH6's and
a SM2 call in... I don't see how they did it with the absorption that high.
At 2330 I get a weak run to Ja and work about 20 of them. Too little , too
late. So much for thinking about a first place finish!!!
