Hello all:

Hope everyone has a good Labor Day weekend. There are a few contests
this weekend even though it is the fifth weekend in August. In addition
to an RTTY contest sponsored by the Slovenian Contest Club, there is an
international everyone works everyone else CW and SSB contest, a South
African CW contest, and a QRP contest on Labor Day itself.

1. YO DX HF Contest. 12 UTC Saturday Aug 30 to 12 UTC Sunday Aug 31.
Send RS or RST + serial number. YO stations only send RS or RST + YO
county designation (two letters). Bands are 80 through 10 meters. One
QSO per band regardless of mode. Everyone may work everyone else, but
stations within one's own country don't count for points (multiplier
only). Everyone has a ten minute per band rule except for a quick band
change for a multiplier. A mode change within the 10 minute period
appears to be OK.

Complete rules and list of YO county abbreviations at:
http://www/hamradio.ro/contests/yodx_eng.htm.

2. SARL HF CW contest. 1330 UTC to 1730 UTC Sunday, August 31. 80,
40, 20 M CW. Frequencies on 20 M: 14030-14060. Sent RST + serial
number. Work only ZS stations.

3. Michigan QRP Club Labor Day Sprint. 2300 UTC Monday Sept 1 to 0300
UTC Tuesday. Monday night local time. 160 through 6 meters. (I
found 6 meters open to Texas one night this week about 10 PM.) Exchange
RST, SPC, and Mi-QRP Member number or power output. Multipliers count
per band, so QSYs are helpful for new mults. Bonus multipliers for home
brew gear, including kits whether or not you made it yourself. You will
feel better if you run 5 watts or less, but there is a Class for over 5
watts if you can't crank down your rig that low.
http://www.qsl.net/miqrpclub/contest.html. You can get entry sheets or
a module for the NA contest logging program from n8cqa@att.net.

Hope everyone has some fun in and outside contesting this weekend.

73,

John, K4BAI.
