Comments:
My first try at this contest, I believe. With my inadequate (for 160)
antenna (a 130' "doublet" off-center-fed with ladder-line), I haven't
normally been that successful on 160 (though I think I've piddled around
with the ARRL 160 before). Tried it a little, found I could make
contacts, and stayed in for 5 hours and 100 contacts. Not that great a
rate compared to some, but given that I don't get out that well on 160,
I figure it's not that bad. I've definitely got RF in the shack on 160
- - my signal was triggering my answering machine on and off, so I had to
turn it off. I did set up the laptop to run NA, so at least for this
one I had computerized logging. I'd like to find a decent contest
logger for Linux, but for now I'm probably going to end up grabbing some
of the PC pieces I have sitting around and putting together a DOS box to
add to the shack.
