My annual DX sprint (S&P) during the CQ WPX SSB was run Saturday nite. I
worked 20 stations in half an hour on 20 SSB. Most were deep Asia with a
few South American's thrown in. I then spent 30 minutes on 40 SSB and
worked 25 stations (all Europe with one Cyprus thrown in). UN6P and RZ0IR
where very weak and did not listen up during my time on the band. Last year
several Asiatic Russians were worked. Seemed to be the usually full band
but I listened to several USA call CQ (N1SV, KM4M et al) with little
results. NQ4I was heard several times and they seemed to be doing OK.
I ran my little 500 watt linear and that 3DB or so down from the LK500NTC or
my big 8877 amp seemed to be larger than the actual difference. I got my
usual great signal comments but several times I was stepped on (even by W6BH
on RU1A) and YP3A took several tries to get my call right. I did liten to
the next QSO (WX3B) make at least 4 or 5 transmissions to get his call
corrected (WE1B, WE3B, and finally WX3B).
The QSO count was about 50% of last year.
Hope everyone had fun.
