This was a part-time effort due to a dinner Saturday night for my
daughter's fiance, a sergeant in the Marines, who left this morning for
Iraq. As he says, "It will be a long engagement." He and his unit will be
escorting Iraqi nationals around the country and manning highway checkpoints.
I went after it pretty hard until app. 3 a.m. local Saturday morning when
rates got low. If I had known about the single digit rates coming Saturday
afternoon I would have kept going. It seemed to me that conditions
improved a great deal on Sunday, maybe partially due to hurricane Charlie
moving on up the coast. I operated a couple of hours on 15 Sunday and had
low noise levels and fairly steady callers. I heard N4PN and K4BAI quite a
few times.
