Hello all:
Please disregard my previous remark about the All Asia Phone Contest
being this weekend. It must be in early September.
This weekend's contests include:
1. Hawaii QSO Party. 07Z Sat 22Z Sun. RS9T) +SPC or Hawaii County.
(I still need the leper colony county in Hawaii.) CW/PH/Digital.
Double points for CW and Digital. More points on low bands, 40, 80,
160. No multipliers. Suggested freq: CW up 35. RTTY; 1800-10,
3560-80, 7025-45, 7080-90, 14, 21, 28 080-090. PSK: up 70 + or - 5 on
40 through 10. SSB: 3875, 7250, 14250, 21325, 28.3 to 28.5. Elaborate
rules and very little activity. http://www.karc.us/hi_qso_party.html.
2. TOEC WW Grid Contest CW. 12Z Sat to 12Z Sun. 160-10M CW. RST + 4
character Grid Square (e.g., EM73). No operation in bottom 10 khz of
bands. They want a log in old fashioned format and a summary sheet. I
have enjoyed this contest in the past, but believe it will be wiped out
by the YO contest which has moved from the first weekend in August and
runs at the same time. If anybody asks for your Grid Square, you will
know why. I predict this contest will disappear after this year.

3. YO DX HF Contest. 12Z Sat to 12Z Sun. 80-10 M. CW/SSB. RST + YO
county (two letters, list on website) or RST + serial number. You can
work everyone for points except your own country, which you can work
only for multiplier credit. There is a 10 minute per band (not per band
and mode) rule for all participants. All are encouraged to use DX
Cluster. http://www.hamradio.ro/contests/yodx_eng.htm. I believe you
could create a Cabrillo log for this contest using the IARU RS templates
for CT or NA.
4. Slovenian Contest Club RTTY Championship. 12Z Sat 1159Z Sun.
80-10M. RST + 4 digit year license issued.

5. Ohio QSO Party. CW/SSB. 16Z Sat 04Z Sun. Serial # + S P or DX or
Ohio County. http://www.oqp.us/rules. They always get out a lot of
mobiles to follow around. A list of county abbreviations is on the website.
6. SARL (South Africa) HF CW Contest. 1230Z - 1630Z Sun. 80,40,20M.
CW. RST + Serial number. Work ZS stations plus 3DA, 7P, 7Q, 9J, C9,
Z2, ZS8, A2, D2, V5, ZD9, ZS7 (must mean ZD7), if you can find any!
http://www.sarl.org/za/public/contests/contestrules.asp.
Hope everyone has a lot of fun and makes a lot of contacts and that band
conditions will be good.
73,
John, K4BAI.
