Thanks to all participants. I operated from the home QTH for a few minutes
Saturday afternoon, then went with Jeff, KU8E/M rovering, and operated
most of
the contest from home on Sunday. Special thanks to all the other rovers.
Conditions seemed pretty good on Saturday, at least on 20 and 40. On
Sunday,
conditions started out pretty bad, but improved as the day went on. 20
M was
mostly long, which isn't good for a state QSO party. 40 was only OK
most of the
day. 15 was good only to Europe and the west coast of the US. 10 M
actually
had an opening to the west coast Sunday afternoon, but I caught only
K7QQ and
K4LTA (ground wave (?) or backscatter from TN) in addition to a few GA
stns and
NF4A in N. Fla. 80 M was pretty good, but was getting noisy by the end.
40 M skip on Saturday was long during the last few hours, but was generally
short and good for QSO parties. Worked K7QQ on 40 about 3:15 PM his
time! Way
to go, Rex.
Hope everyone had a great time and will be back for more and better next
year.
Will be interesting to see if all 159 counties were activated this year. If
not, it will not be because N4PN, AF4QB/NY4N, KU8E, KN4Y, W4BTZ, and a
few other
rovers didn't try. Special thanks to N4NX for his expedition to White
County
and to K0EJ/4 for coming down from TN to a friend's house in Walker County.
This was the first major activation of the new SECC club memorial callsign,
W4AN. It was used by KU8E in Harris County. All QSLs for W4AN go to K4BAI.
73,
John, K4BAI.
