Just a reminded, that the California QSP party is this weekend. 1600Z on
October 1st (Saturday) until 2200Z on the second. Single ops are
limited to 24 hours. If you use packet, you must enter one of the multi
categories.
Last year SECC had a good showing with 20 entries, tied with our
neighbors to the North - TCG - also with 20 entries. We beat TCG on
score however, 757K to 721K points. That left us in second place as a
club, as the "Contest Club Ontario" entered 30 logs and took first place
among clubs.
Surely, SECC can muster 30 logs this weekend!
Along with many plaques awarded in this contest, there are 20 bottles of
California (they make wine anywhere else?) wine up for grabs to the
deserving (top 20 non-CA scores).
No effort is too small - put in an hour and work our friends on the left
coast - then please submit your score! This is one of the best QSO
parties of the year - and a great training ground for SO2R, or just to
blow the dust off the final amplifier tubes.
Food for thought: Maximizing the club score requires maximizing two
components: Number of logs and score per log. On the second item, other
clubs, when trying for a good club showing, suggest members "turn
everything on." If you don't think you have a shot at winning the QRP
or LP category - or whatever your favorite entry category is - then how
about turning on the amp, and packet, and operating M/S? You can
operate the whole 30 hours as a M/S if you wish. At any rate, jump in,
in whatever category you like - even for an hour - and let's see if we
can wake up the boys in Ontario.
