A good turnout despite spotty conditions. Alabama SECC members inside
the SECC 175 mi. radius circle are reminded that scores may be submitted
for "South East Contest Club" for the club aggregate score competition.
Many thanks for those who do so.
2. NCCC Thursday (12/8) NA Sprint Practice
K4BAI 49 19 931 LP 0.5
3. NAQCC December Sprint
K4BAI 12 12 264 SOABQRP 0:22 No straight key bonus this month
as I worked one station using the computer/keyer (during the QRP Fox
Hunt on 80).
Special thanks to K4PIC, AE4Y, and K1ZZI from SECC for working me during
the Fox Hunt last night. Larry is a regular and has missed only one Fox
so far this 80M season.
Contests during the next week include:
1. NCCC Thursday NA Sprint Practice. I assume 0330-0400Z Friday,
160-20 CW, exchange both calls, QSO #, Name, SPC. 1 khz QSY rule and
dupes may be worked after each station has one intervening QSO.
2. There is also a QRP Fox Hunt Thursday night, 0200-0330Z Friday on 40
meters between 7040 and 7060. There will be two foxes. One is K7TQ in
Idaho. The other should be N7CQR in Oregon. We should have propagation
to both foxes.
3. OK DX RTTY Contest. 00-24Z Sat. 80-10M RTTY. Exchange: RST + CQ
Zone (05 for GA, 04 for AL).
4. Croatian CW Contest. 14Z Sat to 14Z Sun. 160-10M CW. Work
everyone. Exchange: RST + Serial #. You can make almost any logging
program work for this one by setting it up the same as for CQ WPX CW.
You might have to refigure points and mults (or just submit the log and
let the scoring program determine your score). There is a lot of
activity in this one and it can be a lot of fun.
5. ARCI Holiday Spirits HomeBrew Sprint. 20-24Z Sun. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: RST + SPC + ARCI member # or power. Extra points for using
homebrew gear, but you can enter with your commercial gear too.
6. Flying Pigs QRP Club Run for the Bacon. 02-04Z Mon (Sun night
local). 160-10M CW. Exchange: RSt + SPC + FP member # or power.
You can get a QRP contest module for the NA logging program and log any
QRP contest that requires the same information. For some of them, the
point structure is the same, you it will figure your score for you. For
the others, you can take a few minutes at the end and refigure the
points and multipliers (if they are counted differently) to determine
your claimed score. The QRP contests and sprints can be a lot of fun.
Activity on CW centers around: 3560, 7040, 14060, 21060, and 28060. I
forget the suggested frequency on 160. It may be 1810.
Remember that, effective December 15, the frequencies on phone expand on
80 and 40 (and for Generals expand on 15M too) and that Novice and Tech
Plus stations will have General class privileges on CW bands. Keep an
ear open for new contesters who can be recruited for our clubs.
Have a good week and weekend and a lot of contacts.
73,
John, K4BAI.
