Hello SECC and SEDXC Members:
A reminder that our clubs co-sponsor the Georgia QSO Party this weekend,
April 14 and 15. Times are 18Z (2 PM local) Saturday through 0359Z
(11:59 PM local) Sunday and Sunday 14Z (10 AM local) through 2359Z (7:59
PM local).
We will have a great party if only the 10 or so mobiles, the portables,
and the W4AN M/M station are QRV. We have commitments to try to
activate every one of the 159 GA counties during the GQP this year and
there are awards for the out of state stations who achieve that sweep or
who come the closest to a sweep. But, it will be a much better QSO
Party if all the Georgia station, particularly club members, who can
operate at least some this weekend will get on the air and make QSOs in
the GQP. All the rules and information can be found at
http://gqp.contesting.com.
There will be a live webcam from the NQ4I contest station that will be
signing W4AN, the SECC memorial club call, in the multi-multi category.
Rick will have nine stations set up that can operate simulteneously.
Two each on 80, 40, 20, and 15 and one on 10M. So, W4AN should be very
workable on any open band, CW and SSB, during the contest. It would be
nice if someone in SECC could activate the club call, W4NT, during GQP.
This is an opportunity to "run" stations and be almost like rare DX when
you first come on a band or mode or when you change counties. There are
a lot of certificates and plaques available for winning at three power
levels, HP, LP, and QRP.
Between now and the weekend, please consider mentioning the GQP to those
other hams that you see, work on the air, or e-mail. Let's "talk it up"
and keep Georgia's place as among the top QSO parties of the year.
Thanks in advance for your help!
73,
John, K4BAI
for SECC and SEDXC.
