I heard a lot of other GA, AL, and SC stations being worked in the
contest, but they haven't reported their scores yet.
This week's contests:
1. 40M QRP Fox Hunt, Thursday night local. 0100-0230Z Friday. Note
the time change after the change to Daylight time. Two foxes will be
hiding between 7030 and 7050 kHz. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power.
Run no more than 5 watts and work only the two foxes.
2. NCCC Practices. RTTY Sprint Practice 0130-0200Z Friday (Thursday
local). Slow Speed SNS Practice 0200-0215Z Friday. NS Practice
0230-0300Z Friday. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. One and five
kHz QSY rule. In SNS and NS dupes are OK after one intervening QSO.
Don't think dupes are OK in the RTTY Sprint Practice. Bands: RTTY
20,40,80. SNS: 40,80. NS: 20,40,80,160. 100w maximum power for the
CW practices. Legal power OK for RTTY practice. Those planning to
operate the RTTY Sprint Saturday night might want to check everything
out on Thursday night in the practice.
3. RSGB Commonwealth Contest (BERU). This is a "closed" contest. You
may hear on 80-10M CW stations in UK and their Commonwealth working each
other 10Z Sat to 10Z Sun. A few may answer non-Commonwealth callers,
but most will ignore us. They say we forfeited our participation in
this contest when we declared independence in 1776.
4. AGCW QRP Contest. 14 to 20Z Sat. 80-10M CW. Exchange: RST + QSO
# + Class + AGCE # or "NM." Classes are: VLP 1 watt or less. QRP 5
watts or less. MP 25W or less. QRO hiher than 25W. Best bet to work
them for us will be around 14060 kHz.
5. QRP ARCI HF Grid Square Sprint. 15-18Z Sat. Exchange: RST + 4
character grid square + ARCI # or power.
6. Second Class Operators' Club (SOC) Marathon Sprint. 18-24Z
Saturday. 160-10M CW. Exchange: RST + SPC + SOC# or power. There
seems to be little activity in this contest each year, but I always call
and give a contact to any I hear.
7. Elecraft QSO Party. 18Z Sat to 18Z Sun. CW, SSB, Digital.
160-10M. Maximum power 100W. Exchange: RS(T) + SPC + Rig ID, if any.
The rig ID is the model # abbreviation plus serial #. So, a K2 with a
serial # of 3000 would send 23000. See the rules for other examples.
8. Idaho QSO Party. 160-440. CW, Ph, Digital. 19Z Sat to 19Z Sun.
Exchange: RS(T) + SPC or Idaho county. Not too much activity in this
one, but I still need some ID counties all time, so I'll be listening
for them.
9. NCJ North American Sprint, RTTY. 00-04Z Sunday (Saturday night
local). Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. QSY rules.
10. Wisconsin QSO Party. 18Z Sun to 01Z Mon. CW/phone, all bands
except WARC. Exchange: Just SPC or WI county. This is a pretty
popular contest that brings out a lot of WI fixed, portable, and mobile
stations.
11. Flying Pigs QRP Club, Run for the Bacon. 01-03Z Mon (Sun night
local). Exchange: RST, SPC, FP# or power. This can be a fun QRP
sprint with pretty good activity around the QRP frequencies mainly on or
about 14060, 7040, and 3560.
12. 80M QRP Fox Hunt, Tuesday night. Same rules as the 40M QRP Fox
Hunts except the frequencies are 3550-3570.
13. The North American QRP CW Club will have their monthly two hour
straight key/bug sprint next Wednesday night. I'll cover the detailed
rules next week.
Hope everyone has a good week and a lot of QSOs. 73, John, K4BAI.
