*The WR4C scores is probably inaccurate. It was reposted later as "0"
points, which is probably not correct either. I also worked W4HEX in
AL, who has not yet posted his claimed score.
This Week's Contests:
1. North American QRP Club Milliwatt Sprint. TONIGHT local, 00-01Z
Thursday/ Maximum power 1 watt or less. 20, 40, 80 CW. Exchange: RST
+ SPC + NAQCC # or power.
2. SNS Slow Speed North American Sprint CW Practice. 0200-0215Z Friday
(Thursday night local). 100W maximum. 23 WPM maximum. 1 kHz QSY rule.
Dupes OK after band change or one intervening QSO. Exchange: both
calls, #, name, SPC.
3. NCCC Ladder. 0230-0259Z Friday (Thursday night local). 100W.
maximum. 1 kHz QSY rule. Dupes OK after band change or one intervening
QSO. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC.
4. SMIRK Contest. 48 hours of Saturday and Sunday UTC. 6M CW, Phone.
Exchange: SMIRK# (optional) and 4 character grid square. Send your
SMIRK club number if you have one. 6M has had some great openings
reported in the last few days.
5. West Virginia QSO Party. 80-10M CW/SSB. 16Z Sat to 02Z Sun.
Exchange: RS(T) + SPC or WV county. I think I have seen an
announcement of at least one planned mobile operation in this one.
6. Kids' Day Contest. 18 to 24Z Sat. 80-10M SSB + 2M repeaters.
Exchange: name + age + favorite color.
7. DIE Contest. 06 to 12Z Sun. 80-10M CW, SSB, RTTY. Exchange: RS(T)
+ Serial # or DIE/DIET REF. Don't really understand this one. Sponsored
by an organization in Spain. Propagation to Europe is not likely to be
very good during these hours. Try 40 at the beginning and 20 at the end
of the contest period. They apparently plan to have a lot of islands
active.
8. Flying Pigs QRP Club Run for the Bacon. 01-03Z Monday (Sunday night
local). 160-10M CW. 5W maximum power. Exchange: RST + SPC + Flying
Pigs # or power.
Maybe this would be a good time for a reminder of the recommended
calling frequencies for QRP stations on the various bands. Look for QRP
contest activity around those frequencies. 1815, 3560, 7040 and 7030,
14060, 21060, 28060.
Hope everyone has a good week and weekend and a lot of QSOs. Information
on membership in ACG and SECC may be found on their respective home pages.
73,
John, K4BAI.
