His mistake, not yours Bob. Since you can't really be sure anymore
where anybody is, the protocol is:
In state: CQ myqsoparty as in: CQ GQP
Out of state: CQ state I Want, as in: CQ GA
Or: CQ KQP for KS stns
And: CQ KS for stns not in KS
Meanwhile, state QSO parties bring out a lot of non-contesters who just
do the best they can. Which is FB - maybe they will catch the bug.

I'm not sure I understand why it seemed so difficult to work KS --
especially on CW.
I didn't seem to have any trouble working quite a few stations outside
of KS -- both stateside and DX. Condx are terrible, yes, but that
hasn't stopped me from working 70 countries in the last 60 days...and I
did qso a QRP guy with a great antenna who was 20 over. For KS I'm
wondering if it is just that there were not too many people running? I
read somewhere where this is the first year since 2002 they have
participated...maybe just not many ops?
I did manage to work both bonus stations, but this contest was not much
fun.
I guess I should have worked the other contest hi hi.
Being new to contesting, I do have some questions: There was a w7
calling CQ KS QP. This being the age of *me* being in *GA* with a
*THREE* call, I didn't think much of it and answered him -- assuming he
was in KS (this was CW). It turned out that ... no shock ... he was NOT
in KS. So, in this situation, I replied: R 5NN GA...but did not log the
contact. What is the deal with this? Do most people look up calls on
QRZ before responding? Is this just a waste of both people's time? Can
someone please educate me on the details of this scenario in a contest
(where someone outside of the objective is, I guess, calling in to the
objective)...and I'm in S&P mode, pounce, and find out I get no points?
