K1GU 50th Anniversary QSO Party, Thursday 16 June 2230-2300 EDT/1930-2000 PDT
(17/0230z-17/0300z.)
Thursday June 16 is the 50th anniversary of the arrival of my novice license in
the mailbox. (It was a three-month wait for the FCC back then.) Inspired by
K6VVA, The Locust, and the LQP 50 a few years back, I'm going to celebrate on
the air with my most frequent radio contacts by playing in the regularly
scheduled NCCC NS Sprint event. The Thursday night 30-minute contests are the
on-air activity I have done the most over the past 5 or 6 years and they
produce
the most fun for time spent of anything going on. <http://www.ncccsprint.com>
With an OK from Fearless Leader N6ZFO, I'm going to have a contest within a
contest. Work me this Thursday and win a prize!
Since it is week 9 of 10 of the current NS Ladder, follow the NS Ladder (NSL)
rules as I will also be doing. Note that there are no dupes in the current
ladder. Follow the link to the Ladder rules;
<http://www.ncccsprint.com/ladder.html> Additional rules for the K1GU QSO
Party: Everyone who works K1GU will be considered an entrant. All entrants
will receive prizes produced in my current state of residence and tax haven -
Tennessee. Featured cities will include Chattanooga and Nashville. Top scorer
may be eligible for a special prize named after a locomotive. Scores will be
determined by taking the regular NS score as posted on the 3830 reflector and
applying an additional multiplier of 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6, depending on the number
of times I am worked. As there is a QSY rule during the NS, I may be missed.
So, I will hang out around 3540 kHz for 10 or 15 minutes after the NS to hand
out an additional bonus multiplier.
This is planned to be a one-time, low overhead, fun event. If there is a
repeat, it might not be for another fifty years. Sponsor disclaims any and all
liability for blood sugar swings. Eat responsibly. If diabetic, give the
prize
to your grand kids (with their mother's approval.)
