FT1000MP - AL811H (500 watts) - Inverted L with 4 elevated radials

Spent some time last weekend raising up the elevated radials on the inverted
L
to around 15 feet. It seems to have helped my signal somewhat and I felt
louder.
I eventually need to get a bigger amp to do any better since I'm running 1/3
of
the power of most of HP stations I'm competing against.

Had several Caribbean and Central America stations answer my CQ's. I about
fell
out of the chair when CE1/K7CA called on Friday night. There were a lot of
V31
and XE's active this time. Worked all W/VE except for AK, HI, MT , WY, LB,
NB,
NF, NU, NWT and YT. Conditions to EU were non-existent. I expected better
since
the A and K index were about the same as during ARRL DX CW, where they were
worked. None heard on Friday night and Saturday night worked OL7M , GI3OQR
and
had CT3DL call around his sunrise. Only heard a few others CQing and
answering
other stations.

It sure would be nice if there was some type of DX window. (like in the
past)
This contest has basically turned into a CQ-Fest with USA/VE working each
other
and EU working EU. Maybe with a window more DX stations would be get on.

Until next time...

73, Jeff
