This Week's Contests:
First, let me apologize for repeating a mistake in WA7BNM's summary for
last week. The Hawaii QSO Party is now 48 hours, 0400Z Sat to 0400Z
Mon. Bruce had the old time of 42 hours with a 22Z Sunday ending point.
I didn't listen for Hawaii after 22Z and hope I didn't lead others
astray. I have suggested to KH6LC that he notify Bruce so that his
summary doesn't repeat that mistake next year.
1. QRP CW Fox Hunt. This is the last one of the summer season on 20M.
0100-0230Z Fri (Thurs night local). 14050 to 14070 kHz. Two foxes
will be hiding there. They are N1IX, Dave, in NH and AA4XX, Paul, in
NC. Likely Paul will be too close to most of us in the southeast, but I
have worked him on backscatter and I worked another NC station on
backscatter in the QRP fox hunt two weeks ago. 5W maximum power. Work
only the two foxes. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power.
2. NCCC RTTY Practice. 0130-0159Z Fri (Thursday night local). 15, 20,
40, 80M RTTY. 100W maximum. One kHz QSY rule. Count mults per band.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Look up 80 kHz.
3. NCCC NS Ladder. 0200-0259Z Fri (Thur night local). 15, 20, 40, 80,
160M CW. 100W maximum power. One kHz QSY rule. Count mults per band.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Look up 40 kHz and 1815 kHz.
4. All Asian DX Contest, Phone. 48 hours of Sat/Sun UTC. 80-10M
Phone. Exchange: RS + 2 digit age or "00" for YLs. Work only Asian
stations.
5. Russia RTTY WW Contest. 24 hours of Sat UTC. 80-10M RTTY.
Exchange: RST + CQ Zone or RU oblast. Work everyone
6. CWOps Club CWOpen Contests. Three separate contests. 160-10M CW.
1200-1559Z Sat; 2000-2359Z Sat; 0400-0759Z Sun. Work all or any of the
contsts. Exchange: Serial # + name. There is a team competition.
Contact K1ZZI for a GCG team. If anyone else is interested, I'll be
glad to register an SECC team. If, please let me know ASAP.
7. Colorado QSO Party. 12Z Sat to 04Z Sun. 160-UHF Cw, Phone,
Digital. Exchange: Name + SPC or CO county.
8. RSGB and IARU Region One Field Day, SSB. 13Z Sat to 1259Z Sun.
Exchange: RS + Serial #.
9. DARC 10M Digital Contest. 11-17Z Sun. 10M RTTY, Amtor, Clovis,
PSK31, Pactor. Exchange: RST + Serial #. Work everyone.
10. Tennessee QSO Party. 18Z Sun to 03Z Mon. 160M-UHF CW, Phone,
Digital. Exchange: RS(T) + SPC or TN County. There is a club
aggregate score competition so be sure to show your club affiliation on
your log. SECC has won this in the past.
11. Michigan QRP Club Labor Day Sprint. 23Z Mon to 03Z Tues. 160-6M
CW. Exchange: RST + SPC + MiQRP# or power.
12. Adventure Radio Society September Spartan Sprint. 01-03Z Tues (Mon
night local). 5W max power. 80-10M CW. Exchange: RST + SPC + power.
For both of the QRP contest, look around 3560, 7040 and 7030, 14060,
21060, and 28060. You can work the four hours of the MiQRP test and
count the ARS SS QSOs for that also, since the exchange is almost the
same. Only problem is trying to get the guys you worked before 01Z to
work you again on the same band and to get their power if they are a
MiQRP member.
Hope everyone has a nice week and a nice Labor Day weekend with a lot of
QSOs. 15M surely did sound good before work with morning with a lot of
signals from Europe and Asia.
73, John, K4BAI.
