Comments:
My first contest operation from the Walnut County parsonage. Not much in the
way of antennas, and with the size of the lot, there may not be much more.
Had a Oyster Supper at the church, where I was inaugurated as a fry cook. One
lady remarked that she had never had fried oysters before, I thought that was
OK, since I had never cooked them before.
After the event, got on for a little over an hour to hand out some Qs. Not a
lot of activity. However, this QTH has S9+ noise, and the very much compromise
antenna couldn't be helping either. Oh, how I long for the quiet of the wilds
of Floyd County, with my Inverted-L snuck up in the woods with a 1/3 mile of
radials.
Spent another hour before sunrise in the morning.
It has been a few years since I've used the TS-430S in any contest. The
Elecraft K2 and K3 have me spoiled. It did pretty good service. The AT-250 is
really slow to tune, so I avoided it where I could.
Mostly S & P effort. Called some CQs, but only got a few answers.
Biggest problem is local noise. May have been a lot of folks I just couldn?t
hear.
