Some of you have been asking about the Cabrillo format. Here is
my implementation plan:
The next release of POST will have a procedure to generate Cabrillo
report files. I believe that most of the contests supported by
Cabrillo will be implemented - but highest priority will be given to
the CQ WW and SS contests.
This release will be made either just before, during, or after the
CQ WW SSB contest. It will be done before the ARRL SS CW contest.
Implementation is currently about 75 percent complete. During the
implementation, I have come across a couple of issues that might
require an improved implementation shortly after the release. I
am working with Trey (who is currently in the UK) on resolving these
issues.
Putting my other hat on for a second - the Cabrillo format will be
acceptable for both CQ WW and ARRL SS log submission. However, the
previous formats will also work. I will also try to support additional
contests not specified by the Cabrillo specification. The Stew Perry
Top Band Distance challenge is a strong possibility. The format will
also be okay for Sprint logs starting next February.
The Cabrillo function is executed after the contest in POST. You can
use log files generated by previous versions of TR. Therefore, you
don't need to have the new version in time for the contest. For any
contests not supported by the next release - a future release will be
before those contests are held.
