Sorry dick that you do not like us airing the problems that we find,
Unfortunately the action you describe does not seem to be related to the
problems I am experiencing. The program works perfectly normally for me until
I ask it to read the frequency and mode from my IC756, I know the program
works well with a yaesu I have used it that way.No I think VR2 B? is it
Graham? has the right answer the difficulty is the idiosyncratic control
system on the Icom.I see no good reason (other than the opportunity to sell
yet another accessory) for the civ control system and Icom should think
carefully before using it on another rig.
There is no excuse in this day and age of standardisation not to use the
RS232 or RS234 standard eliminating the need for an additional component. If
people still feel the need to isolate the rig from the computer then a
simple bi-directional opto isolator is all that is required.
Further the time has come when all equipment manufacturers should agree on a
basic control codec with extensions which would apply to all equipment
allowing for instance an SGC Tuner to be controlled by an Alinco transceiver
or the same control program to interface both my Icom and my Yaesu
transceivers.
This will never happen unless we (the Ham Radio community) tell the
manufacturers that this is what we want.
Finally, A quick apology to Dick for the band width, unfortunately my usual
brevity forsake me in responding to you.
Regards
Jeff
