This is humbling....
I still cannot find the proper incantation to run TR with either the Dell
Latitude CP or Compaq Presario laptop.
.
Neither will operate LPT or serial ports from a DOS window.
When operated in DOS mode, the Dell will not talk to either either.
Ah, there is no DOS mode for the Compaq, it has Windoze ME.
TR works on the old B/W Zenith 286 (without windows) just fine.
Control V will facilitate changing calls in mid-contest - tnx George.
