HP's utility (SP27213.exe) put a bootable partition on both of my
generic thumb USB drives from within Windows XP.

Of the various vintage PC's I have here, only one with a bios that
allows direct boot from USB. Two others (One with a USB 1.1 port, one
wth 2.0) can boot from a DOS floppy and see the USB partition.
