What I actually do is remove the last statement in autoexec.bat
(WIN).  This boots to the DOS prompt all the time.  If I
want windows, I type in "win" at the prompt.

I have also been known to dual-boot Windows98SE machines with
DOS just so I don't have to fool with this!  :-)
