I finally have acquired from an estate two Ten Tec classics.

For some time I had been eyeing the 505, but in going over to close the
transaction, I discovered the PM-2 on a shelf, and made a package deal,
without any real idea of what the PM-2 might be worth. Cosmetically, it is
good on front, but lower case has some scratches on back. The top cover paint
does not quite match the tone of the lower cover, leading me to believe it was
repainted at one time. Inside was clean, dial drive works smoothly, and
string in good condition. For those too young to remember the -2, it was the
second Power Mite model. Covered 80, 40 and 15 M bands, which I find a
curious combination, leading me to believe it was aimed at Novice hams who had
permission to operate CW on those three bands only at one time. It is VFO or
crystal CW only.

It has pin jacks for headphone connections! That goes back a ways.
Probably is a direct conversion receive, is that correct? Band switching is
done with various combinations of several slide switches, to avoid expense of
multi-gang rotary switch. It does have a tiny meter and slide rule dial that
is silk screened to front panel. A slot across top allows dial pointer, (a
wire) to hang down and move across the marked area of panel.

I would be glad to pay copy and mailing of a manual for it. I would like to
know what the power of the single final transistor might have been, as it is
hidden under a massive heat sink compared to the size of the transistor.

We could not locate a PM-2 manual, although I did get a xerox copies of a 505
manual. If anyone should have a real manual for either they would let go, of
course, I would be interested.

The 505 appears to have had a filter added on the back panel inside. It might
be an MFJ of the era, as Ham Radio reprints on that one and its modification
were in the same folder as the 505 pages. The filter switch has wide and
narrow positions for both SSB and CW.

Thanks again to all who answered questions on the 5xx series of Ten Tec. I
hope to make adapters and get both of these rigs working.
