A few weeks ago I traded a HW16/HG10B for a Century 21 Analog. I found
an unusual box and shaft sticking out of the back on the Band Switch
side. Inquiring of previous owner I discovered that at one time it had
the Digital readout kit installed. Model 274.
He found the parts and they are on they way to me today.
Now to the Questions.
1. Anyone out there have a manual FS for the conversion kit 274 ?
2. The owner said the digital unit was not stable, for that reason it
was removed. He said that Tentec goofed on design and it never work
well. He stated that the digits blanked or something like that on
transmit.
Another person on this net said that the factory unit (Digital) was
fine.
So what's the story? Is it worth the effort,er experiment, to change
over to digital or should I leave it alone? Works fine except a few
minor broken parts.Got the new ones from Tentec now.
If there was a problem, any fix? Because of the add on nature of the
conversion kit it's likely that success depended on the installer having
a good technical ability. From all of the repair work I've done on
HW16's not all their kit builders had the skill. I like the HW16 but the
Century 21's a lot better unit.
Any comments, experience,appreciated.
