A one wave length loop antenna satisfies the condition of having balance of
inductive and capacitive terms. Any multiple of a wave length antenna that
has balance of capacitance and inductance is by the definition, a resonant
antenna.
A resistor inserted at the far side from the feed in some antennas terminates
the antenna so as to change its directional character, in the case of rhombics
and Vees or Beverages. In the case cited, the loop could be considered a
special case of a rhombic. Incidentally, the statement to the effect that all
the radiation had happened before the end of the antenna was reached, seems at
varience with the texts. Kraus, in "Antennas" notes that in order for
radiation to occur, there must be a discontinuity or change of conductor
direction. But, doesn't the energy distribute itself over the whole antenna
in order for this to happen?
