99% CW operator on this end but decided to get into the SS SSB contest this
past weekend.....Started setting up Friday with my OMNI V that I have only
had about 6 weeks or so, and had never been on SSB with it...All the things I
read here on the reflector were happening...nothing I could do to get the VOX
to react properly.... I am using the Heil boom mic with -5 element......Main
problem was that stronger signals would cause the VOX to trip and at times
just set there and rapidly flutter(should have been adjustable with
AntiVox)...I adjusted all the VOX controls, adjusted mic gain up/down,
etc....nothing helped.......Is the same mod I read about here available and
appropriate for the OMNI V?....
Anyway, 661 QSO's later, my foot was killing me from pounding the hastily
assembled footswitch I used to stay off VOX.....
