I have owned a Model 253 automatic tuner for over 4 1/2 years and never
had a
problem with it. I'm only running it with 100 watts or so, whatever
comes out of my
OMNI-VI, so I can't say how it behaves when used with an amplifier.
They're a bit noisy, but the convenience of having up to four different
antennas and 7
memory positions for each antenna makes up plenty for that. I paid $999
for mine new,
back in March or April of 1993, but I wouldn't know what the going price
is for one.
