Hi all been following with interest the comments on TT rigs and 160M =
antennas.
As I work a fair amount of 160 during the winter months and especially =
during contests ,
I work qrp.. 5w or less most of the time.. The best all round rig in my =
shack for this band , considering I do not have an omni six.. is my TT =
scout.. Great rx.. and Since I work QRP. power not realy a factor. As =
for my choice of antennas I've tried the full wave Loop.. It's ok.. but =
I've had the best all round results from my Inverted L. It's about 20 =
ft vertical.. and the rest of the aproximately 122ft of wire. slopes up =
to a pinetree at about 50 ft high on the far end.. I've word some good =
dx and many states with this set up.. Work Or. Wa. and Ak this past =
winter on top band CW of course.. with this set up.. The ground system =
that it's fed against I try to improve every season.. I have all the =
heating and water pipes in the house tied to the radial system which is =
a crows foot type.. with about 25 radials, not all 1/4wave either.. =
buried in the ground under the antenna.. It has worked well for me. Put =
up an inverted L. and put the very best ground system in that your lot =
and circumstances will afford you.. Think you may be surprized what it =
will do..=20
