[TenTec] Argonaut II Receiver Noise Question

Wondering if there are any known cures to reduce the ambient noise level
in the receive mode in my Argonaut II transceiver.

I talked to Ten Tec Service and I was told that there is no factory
approved remedy; however, I was lead to believe that there maybe a
resistor mod which reduces IF gain, resulting in some noise reduction.
