Just a few first impressions after getting option 3 upgrade on line.
The DSP is a fairly mild version of NR, useful mostly on 30m and above. Not
as effective as either a 599ZX or NIR-12. Advantage: seamlessly coordinated
with 'classic Tentec QSK'. I could hardly distinguish any DSP artifacts in the
processed output.
The new menu system is much nicer to use. Much less digging for the right
entry.
The new 250Hz filter with the 500Hz center frequency is a gem. Razor sharp and
minimal ringing. That filter with the 250 in the 6.3 IF in tandem is like
listening to a code oscillator for signals of even modest strength.Score
another for TT!
No damage in shipping (!!) and the only quirk was that the RF and AF gain
knobs were attached just a bit too closely...had to use a 0.05in allen wrench
for 5 seconds to cure that one.
The beautiful CW note it had before the upgrade is unaltered.
Its glad to have it back home...now to reimburse the family savings kitty!!!
