Casey:
I've been using a four-year-old Scout exclusively
in the mobile for the past 15 months. I bought it
when the price was still $499, but didn't have a
vehicle to put it in untl last year (I gues when I
bought it I was just planning ahead).
Anyway, it's installed in a 1997 Dodge Ram
Truck, and although we can agree that the
Dodge is the Cadillac of trucks, mine doesn't
actually ride like a Cadillac. But in the 15 months
it's been in there, it's been steady as a rock. It
doesn't jump off freq on the bumps, holes, or
rough roads. I haven't had ANY problems from
it at all.
If you want to see the installation, you can point
your web browser to:
http://wb4huc.home.texas.net
and click the link to the mobile station.
I use a Texas Bugcatcher mounted on a tiltover
base which is in turn mounted to the back bumper
of the truck.
Here in Texas the temps have been running anywhere
between 99 and 105 degrees on the outside, so you can
imagine the heat inside the vehicle after it's been parked
for a while. Still, when I turn on the rig, the freq is right
where I left it before, and everything works fine.
Good Luck,
Mike
