It is in almost daily (evening) use. My last CW QSO was with KA5GCB in =
Round Rock, Texas. Got good signal reports. My 509 is connected to a =
G5RV via a MFJ 949E tuner and I use the 208 filter.
=20
I purchased it last August at the Jacksonville Hamfest. I found out =
quickly that it would not transmit (of course there was no such =
indication on the rig by the ham who had consigned it to our club =
table). I shipped it off to Ten Tec in September 1997. They replaced =
the diodes on the rx/tx switch, rebuilt a slipping PTO, replaced the =
dial cord, and realigned the VFO. They also replaced the PIN diode on =
the control board, and checked it out. I have had no problems with the =
rig since.
=20
It is about as close to perfect cosmetically as I think a used radio can =
be. It looks just like the one on the Ten Tec reference site. It has =
been kept in an air-conditioned environment. I do not smoke and can =
smell no tobacco odor in the radio. I have the original, but faded, =
factory carton and the original owners manual, which is in good shape.
=20
$275 (buyer pays shipping) for my Argonaut 509, matching Ten Tec 208 cw =
filter, and an Icom 500 ohm dynamic microphone. Cash or U.S. Postal =
money orders only.
