I Think I can answer your question on why he doesn't like the
Omni-V. There was a wide range of those rigs, not sure
if it had to do with productions runs or what, But...
Out of about ten 'V's in our area, there were two that were
total dogs, never worked for more than a few months at
a time and were continuously causing problems. Mine was a
good one, but I had to re-calibrate the heterodyne oscillator
string about once every 3 months to keep in calibration.
KL4T has one that I would love to have. I'd even trade my
'SIX' for it. Hotter than a pistol, stable as a rock and has never
caused a minutes trouble.
So - there are those that have 'V's that leave a bad taste. But
the majority are great rigs.
