Hi Steve,
A Skytek(sic) Speaker , is really Skytec....it is a speaker made about
20 years ago for optimizing CW signals from the receiver. Remember
tubesters?( solid state tube replacements),same company.
Anyway it is a very clever assembly of PVC with a small speaker at the
bottom of PVC about 4 inches in diameter.... There is a tuning cone in
the center of the tube which can be moved in or out to "peak" the cw
signal....The tube is more or less "L" shaped to direct the signal. I
have one and it works remarkably well. They have instructions on the
bottom individually typed out it appears and are serialized. There is a
by-pass switch to send the audio to a standard speaker for sideband but
they do work for SSB as well.. They are fairly rare nowadays as some
inquiries by me on lists a few months ago brought few responses. I have
#1284.
