Actually, in the time of the PM 3 and earlier Ten Tecs, the standard amateur
Radio and communications phones were 2000 ohm, or higher impedance. Some
military and professional phones were 600, but the simple rigs worked best
with high impedance phones and all the 2000 or higher ones came with two tip
plugs to fit those Ten Tec pin jacks.
I am lucky enough to have for my pristine PM2, some surplus 15,000 ohm
military phones. Now those do a fine job with all the little radios.
