Congratulations on finding a great rig.
You are correct to want to work on better antennas, but not
so as to handle more power. Do it so as to hear better.
Then use only as much power as needed to establish and
maintain a good contact. You'll never have to use the rig's
full output, and the Omni D will run cool and probably last
forever.
